Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can go on a charter?

Six passengers. Though our  boat is quite spacious, we are legally obligated to limit our sails to six guests regardless of the age and under no circumstances will we take more. Our captain and first mate are not part of the count.

Where do we go for our sail?

Your crew will meet you at the main gate to the marina just to the left of Pier 25’s mini golf course. Directions and a map can be found on our location page.

When should we arrive?

Arrive at the main gate to the marina about five minutes before your sail. It only takes a minute or two to get you boarded and out sailing.

What should we bring?

Feel free to bring food and drinks and load up a playlist if you would like to play your own music. For daytime sails we recommend sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. On cooler or windy days or evenings, we suggest bringing an extra cover-up appropriate for the weather.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably so that you can easily move about the boat and come prepared for the weather. It is usually feels up to 10 degrees cooler out on the water, especially at night or on windy days so bring a light jacket or cover-up or additional layers if necessary.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Your captain will suggest that you remove your shoes when you get on the boat. We prefer that you sail barefoot - it allows the best traction and lets you feel the ship beneath your feet. If you must wear shoes you should wear flip flops, sandals, or light colored soft soles. Hard soles, heels, and dark rubber soles are not permitted and you will be asked to remove them.

Can I bring food and beverages?

Absolutely. Please bring anything you like to eat or drink (except for red wine as it stains our decks). We provide plates, cutlery, glasses, napkins, ice and refrigeration.

Do you provide catering?

No, however we can recommend some nearby restaurants and specialty grocery stores from which you can pre-order a variety of foods and picnics to pick up on your way to your sail.

Can children come on the charter?

Yes, we love kids! Children under the age of 13, including infants, are required by law to wear a life jacket, which we will provide. We do not recommend bringing a baby under the age of six months simply because the life jacket can be awkward and may make your baby uncomfortable.

What about gratuity?

It is customary to tip your captain and crew at the end of a great voyage. If you enjoyed your sail, let them know. 15 -20% is standard.

Will I get sea sick?

It is very rare that people experience sea sickness, however if you are prone to it, we recommend taking motion sickness medication as directed.

I am an experienced sailor. Can I rent a boat without a captain?

No, for insurance purposes we are unable to let you sail without one of our US Coast Guard-licensed captains on board, however you are welcome to get as involved in the sailing as you would like.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my sail?

We do not offer refunds, however you may reschedule for a fee. The fee is dependent on the amount of notice given prior to your sail. See our terms and conditions for details. Please note that we do not accept requests to reschedule within 24 hours or less from the start time of your sail and you are responsible for full payment, regardless of whether the scheduled sail occurs or not.

What if there is bad weather on the day of my sail?

We want you to enjoy your sail and because of this we only sail in pleasant / safe conditions. We do not sail in rain, lighting, high winds, or confused seas. These conditions are very rare in our sailing area but please understand that they are out of our control and we do not go out into them for your comfort and safety. If your sail is canceled due to rain or unsafe conditions simply give us a call and we will reschedule the sail completely free of charge. The captain of your vessel makes the final call as to what constitutes unsafe conditions.
